What Exactly is NUTELLA Made Of? Let’s Find Out

What Exactly is NUTELLA Made Of? Let’s Find Out

We hate to you this, but, when you break down all of the ingredients in the delicious hazelnut spread, it is really not that healthy! You might actually be better off consuming a candy bar for breakfast!

But, despite knowing that the delicious NUTELLA chocolate spread is not the healthiest of options, most of us tend to eat it on a daily basis. You add it in cakes, on toast, or eat it straight from the jar.

NUTELLA contains chocolate, milk, and hazelnuts, so how bad could it be?

It may be worse than you think.

What is Nutella Made of?

nutella

nutella / photo credit: reddit/mrflow

A jar of Nutella only contains 5 ingredients, and these are palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, sugar, and skimmed milk powder.

Advertisers and marketers play up the fact that it is made of delicious hazelnut spread with no preservatives or artificial colors, therefore, you feel good about consuming it daily or giving it to your kids.

But, what they do not outright say is that more than 1/2 of the jar contains pure sugar.

The nutrition label states that each jar contains about 21 grams of sugar per 37 grams of spread. The second most used ingredient is palm oil, which is solid fat. Therefore, you are really not getting that much hazelnut.

Also, according to nutritionist Meghan Telpner, the spread is laden with sugar, it should be banned from every breakfast table.

According to Telpner, NUTELLA “contains processed sugar by weight and 70% saturated fat, with a 2-tablespoon serving containing at least 200 calories“.

To endorse healthy eating, Ferrero, the company that manufactures Nutella said, “One of Ferrero’s core nutritional beliefs is small portion sizes can help consumers to enjoy their favorite foods in moderation. The labeling on all our products enables the consumers to be able make informed choices, and therefore helps ensure that Nutella can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.”

If this does not stop you from eating the delicious chocolatey spread, maybe you can just cut back on the portion size a little. Also, you can try some Nutella recipes, but, make sure, to enjoy your Nutella in moderation.

Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water in the Morning:

1. Cleanse Your Body

Lemons help in flushing out more toxins to prevent damage and build-ups to your tissues, cells, and organs. It helps in stimulating your liver to produce more enzymes and to work more efficiently.

2. Keeps You Hydrated

It is very important to stay hydrated, most especially during the summer months. Plain water is best, but many individuals find this boring and are not drinking enough of it.

This is where lemon comes into play to make things more interesting. Feel free to not only start your day with lemon water, but drink as many glasses as you wish during the day to stay hydrated.

3. Fights Colds and Flu

Warm lemon water is one of the most effective way to reduce viral infections, body aches, sore throat and fever. Also, lemon juice helps in boosting your immune system, you will also fight-off these infection from the get go.

Vitamin C helps in maintaining your skin’s elasticity, in order to decrease blemishes and prevent the formation of wrinkles.

7. Weight Loss

There are many theories as to why drinking lemon water in the morning may help with weight loss. First, lemons contain pectin fiber that helps in fighting hunger cravings the rest of the day. Second, as lemon water helps in digestion (see above,) therefore, it can help keep things moving, which can assist with keeping your weight balanced.

Last, lemon water has zero calories, therefore, if you sub-out that calorie-rich and sugary orange juice or that store-bought smoothie, you will be consuming fewer overall calories throughout the day. Fewer calories is equal to weight loss.

15 Ways to Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer

15 Ways to Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer

Not all of us have that luxury of getting a fresh manicure weekly done at the salon. But don’t worry!

We have your back to getting your nails looking great and that will last longer. Just follow these our 15 Ways to Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer!

How To Make Your Manicure Last Longer:

1. Cut Cuticles

Cutting your cuticles is a step that often goes overlooked, but it can make or break how long your manicure will last.

Therefore, making sure you have a clean nail bed to work on before applying the polish will go a long way.

2. Use White Vinegar

Use a cotton swab to apply down your nails with white vinegar before applying the basecoat.

This will remove any product buildup or natural oils on your nail beds, which could make a barrier between the polish. Once your nails dry, apply basecoat.

3. Skip the Soak

A water bath before your manicure will cause your nails to expand. When they dry and shrink, your nail polish will crack. Skip this step.

4. Buff Your Nails

Lightly buff your nails to smooth those bumps, so that the polish will lay flat.

Even just a small dents or dips in your nails can warp the polish, therefore, cause cracking. Give your nails a light buff to even them out.

5. Paint 2 Basecoat Layers

Paint the first basecoat on the top half of your nail, then the second coat over your entire nail.

Doing this will help keep the polish on the tips of your nails from chipping.

6. Roll the Nail Polish Bottle Between Your Hands

Instead of shaking the nail polish up and down, roll it between your hands to remove and prevent air bubbles. This will warm-up the nail polish, so it will spread more easily.

If you paint air bubbles into your nails, they will chip faster.

7. Use a Rubberized Base Coat

Try using a rubberized base coat to make your nail polish last longer.

8. Apply Multiple Thin Coats

Apply multiple thin coats instead of just 1 thick coat. A thick coat of manicure will only dry in the top layer, therefore leaving your nail polish vulnerable to smudges.

9. Invest in the Top Best Coat

Everyone’s has got their favorite nail polist, which consistently keeps your polish chip-free for at least 1 week.

But, if you only do 1 thing to make your manicure last, it has got to be using a good top coat.

10. Wait Between Coats

If your nail polish is not completely dry before you apply the next layer, it may peel off. Therefore, wait at least 2 minutes between each coat.

11. File in 1 Direction

It does not matter which direction, but make sure you are filing each nail either to the right or left, but not back and forth.

Alternating directions can weaken your nails, making it more prone to peeling and breakage.

12. Seal the Edge of Yor Nails

If you are applying a top coat but you are not sealing the edge of your nail, that is exactly where you are going wrong.

The edge of the nail takes most of the brunt of the polish beating, thereofre, make sure you are protecting it with a good cover of clear polish.

13. Apply Nail Oil

Put some nail oil everyday to prevent your nails from splitting and drying out.
The less moisture your cuticles and nails have, the more likely they are to tear and break.

14. Avoid Hand Sanitizer

Choose water and soap, over hand sanitizer for washing hands because sanitizer is drying. The alcohol found in hand sanitizer can dry out your nail polish, therefore, making them dull and ready to chip.

15. Embellish

If the tips of your nails have started to chipped, add a super-thin French tip. Now you are chipping no more, yet have that cool updated look.

If you get a chip in an area where it cannot be buffed away, cover it up with some nail art such as an ombre design or a stick-on rhinestone.

How to Protect Your Skin from Pollution?

How to Protect Your Skin from Pollution?

Healthy skin starts from the inside out. But, skin damage can start from the outside in. Dirt, dust, smog, and other particulates in the air pose risks to the skin, which is your largest organ.

But, there are ways you can take to protect your skin, and reduce the effects of pollution.

Pollution and Your Skin:

Pollution is one of the key sources of damage to the skin. Free radicals which interfere with your skin’s ability to produce collagen, and keeps it firm and healthy.

When contaminants come into contact with your skin, these can interfere with your skin’s ability to regulate moisture, therefore, leaving the skin splotchy, dry, clogged andwrinkled.

Imgaine the dirty film that accumulates on your car between washes. This same film is building-up on your skin, you just do not see it.

7 Ways to Protect Skin from Pollution:

1. Apply Fish Oil On Your Skin

Did you know that fish oil is a powerhouse of omega-3 fatty acids? It can repair skin from the inside, and also prevent further damages from occurring.

Applying fish oil on your skin benefits it in many ways, which you may not be aware of.

2. Consume a Diet Rich in Antioxidants

Antioxidants are substances or nutrients that can slow down or prevent oxidative damage to the body. They have been reported to block free radical activity in the body.

Consuming a diet rich in antioxidants is a perfect line of defense against the damaging effects of pollution.

Antioxidants are present in many vegetables and fruits, but most often present in those that are brightly colored. Consider adding antioxidant-rich foods in your diet including carrots, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, leafy greens, bell peppers, and more.

3. Don’t Smoke

Smoking is another form of air pollution. This is true for both second-hand and first-hand smoke.

Smoking causes wrinkles by impeding blood flow to your skin, narrowing the blood vessels in your skin, and depleting oxygen and important nutrients. Also, smoking damages collagen and elastin, which are fibers that give skin its elasticity and can cause it to wrinkle prematurely.

Cigarette smoking is also a major source of free radicals, which can further wrinkle and damage skin.

4. Exfoliate Using Homemade Scrubs

Exfoliation can help you fight off the side effects of pollution. You can make you own face scrubs using natural ingredients at home.

Exfoliate your skin at least once per week to make sure that the impurities do not accumulate in your skin.

5. Keep Your Skin Clean

Clean your face using a good face wash at least 2 times a day, once in the morning and before you sleep. This is one easy yet highly useful tip in keeping your skin clean. Do this regularly to make sure that impurities do not get accumulated on your skin’s surface.

6. Stay Hydrated

Water is one of your best defense in the battle for healthy skin. Water hydrates your skin, improves circulation, generates cell growth, improve skin’s elasticity and helps minimize dark circles under the eyes [source: Bouchez].

To protect your skin from the effects of water pollution, you can filter your drinking water to remove toxins and chlorine. Washing your face daily and exfoliating at least 2x a week will remove air pollutants from your skin. Also, you can try using mineral water to avoid the potentially damaging effects of chlorine in tap water.

7. Use Sunscreen When Going Out

It is really necessary to protect your skin from the harmful skin-damaging UV rays and the adverse effects of pollution. You should buy a good sunscreen and make sure to apply some before you step out of the door.

Study Says, Being Too Handsome is Bad for a Man’s Career

Study Says, Being Too Handsome is Bad for a Man’s Career

Good-looking men have it all, right? And, they are very lucky indeed? They get all the girls, and people just seem to treat good looking people better.

But, studies say handsome men are less likely to land their dream job. A study reported that attractive men are seen as a threat by their male bosses, therefore, are much less likely to be given roles that shows their personal individual talents as a result.

Study

Researchers at the University of Maryland in the US and the University College London’s School of Management carried out 4 experiments in offices.

Also, it was reported that when men were looking for other men to work with them, their decision was influenced by the attractiveness of the candidate and the type of job.

But, attractive women did not face the same problem because being pretty is not linked with competence among female stereotypes.

Assistant professor and lead researcher Sun Young Lee of Maryland University, said: ‘Managers make hiring decisions and are affected by stereotypes, to serve their own self-interests, therefore, organisations may not get the most competent candidates.

‘With more companies involving employees in the recruitment processes, this important point needs attention.

‘Awareness that hiring is can be affected by stereotyping tendencies and potential work relationships can help organisations improve their selection processes.’

To get the best workers, irrespective of looks, companies may find it is more beneficial to have a neutral, outside recruitment company doing the hiring, Sun Young Lee of Maryland University, suggested.

The findings will be published in the journal Organisational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

Also, actor Rob Lowe complained about how he tough it was to further his career because of his good looks.

Rob Lowe told the New York Times in April 2014, “There’s this unbelievable prejudice and bias against quote-unquote good-looking people, that they cannot be in pain or they cannot have rough lives or be deep or interesting.”
