2. Use White Vinegar

Use a cotton swab to apply down your nails with white vinegar before applying the basecoat.

This will remove any product buildup or natural oils on your nail beds, which could make a barrier between the polish. Once your nails dry, apply basecoat.

3. Skip the Soak

A water bath before your manicure will cause your nails to expand. When they dry and shrink, your nail polish will crack. Skip this step.

4. Buff Your Nails

Lightly buff your nails to smooth those bumps, so that the polish will lay flat.

Even just a small dents or dips in your nails can warp the polish, therefore, cause cracking. Give your nails a light buff to even them out.

5. Paint 2 Basecoat Layers

Apply multiple thin coats instead of just 1 thick coat. A thick coat of manicure will only dry in the top layer, therefore leaving your nail polish vulnerable to smudges.

9. Invest in the Top Best Coat

Everyone’s has got their favorite nail polist, which consistently keeps your polish chip-free for at least 1 week.

But, if you only do 1 thing to make your manicure last, it has got to be using a good top coat.

10. Wait Between Coats

If your nail polish is not completely dry before you apply the next layer, it may peel off. Therefore, wait at least 2 minutes between each coat.

11. File in 1 Direction

It does not matter which direction, but make sure you are filing each nail either to the right or left, but not back and forth.

Alternating directions can weaken your nails, making it more prone to peeling and breakage.

12. Seal the Edge of Yor Nails

If you are applying a top coat but you are not sealing the edge of your nail, that is exactly where you are going wrong.

The edge of the nail takes most of the brunt of the polish beating, thereofre, make sure you are protecting it with a good cover of clear polish.

13. Apply Nail Oil

Put some nail oil everyday to prevent your nails from splitting and drying out.
The less moisture your cuticles and nails have, the more likely they are to tear and break.

14. Avoid Hand Sanitizer

Choose water and soap, over hand sanitizer for washing hands because sanitizer is drying. The alcohol found in hand sanitizer can dry out your nail polish, therefore, making them dull and ready to chip.

15. Embellish

If the tips of your nails have started to chipped, add a super-thin French tip. Now you are chipping no more, yet have that cool updated look.

If you get a chip in an area where it cannot be buffed away, cover it up with some nail art such as an ombre design or a stick-on rhinestone.
