Beauty Benefits of Baking Soda: For Your Skin, Face and Lips

The kitchen is considered to be one of the most treasured place in a house. You can get many natural ingredients from the kitchen to enhance your beauty.

Most of you think that baking soda is used for cooking only, but baking soda is surprisingly good for your health and beauty regimen. Here are the most effective and useful beauty benefits of baking soda.

Beauty Benefits of Baking Soda:

1. Baking Soda for Glowing Skin

Orange contains a slightly acidic pH which helps in maintaining the pH balance of your skin. Also, it contains a lot of vitamin C, which helps to give your skin a collagen boost. The cleansing and exfoliating properties of baking soda can remove impurities and dead skin cells from your pores.

Materials:

2 Tbsps freshly squeezed orange juice
1 Tbsp baking soda

Directions:
1. Combine the orange juice and baking soda until you get a smooth paste.
2. Wash your face and hands.
3. Pat the excess moisture from your face, using a towel, but leave it slightly damp.
4. Apply paste onto your face.
5. Leave on for 15 minutes.
6. Pat some water onto your face, then rub the face pack loose.
7. Rinse your face using cool water, then pat dry using a clean towel.
8. Rinse off using a non-comedogenic moisturizer.
9. Do this at least once a week.

2. Baking Soda for Yellow Teeth

Baking soda is good for making your teeth shine. It works as a mild abrasive that helps in removing yellow stains from your teeth. Also, it helps remove plaque by neutralizing acids produced by the bacteria.

Directions:

1. Place some baking soda on your toothbrush along with your regular toothpaste.
2. Brush your teeth for 2 minutes.
3. Do this once daily for a few days.

OR
1. Prepare a homemade teeth whitener using 4 tablespoons of turmeric root powder, 3 tablespoons extra-virgin coconut oil and 2 teaspoons of baking soda.
2. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
3. Use a small amount of this paste mixture to brush your teeth once daily for a few days.

Note:
Do no use baking soda excessively as this can strip your teeth of its natural, protective enamel.

3. Baking Soda for Dark Lips

Baking soda and honey can help get rid of the dead skin cells from your lips. Also, baking soda help bleach your skin to naturally lighten the color of your lips.

Materials:

1 tsp honey
1 tsp baking Soda

Directions:
1. Combine baking soda and honey, until you get a smooth paste.
2. Apply this mixture onto your lips.
3. Leave it on for at least 2 minutes.
4. Using your fingertips, rub gently the mixture on your lips to exfoliate.
5. Do this at least 2-3 times per week.

Do a Skin Test First:

Baking soda is generally known to safe for your skin. But, it can cause irritation to some people.

Therefore, a good idea to perform a patch test first to see how your skin reacts to it. Also, do not apply baking soda to broken skin without checking with your doctor first.
